Iron Mountain Mine is a mine near Redding in Northern California. The site was mined for iron, silver, gold, copper, zinc, and pyrite until 1963. The mine is the source of extremely acidic mine drainage which also contains large amounts of zinc, copper and cadmium. It is one of the most toxic waste sites in the US.

The Labrador Trough contains world-class iron deposits which have been mined since 1954. The direct shipping of Knob Lake ores were mined at Schefferville from 1954 to 1982. Concentrate production began in 1961 in the southwest end of the Trough, with three mines currently producing concentrate and pellets at a rate of 35 Mt per year.
