13 February 2005, 18:28. As I understood it this was the last model rifle built by Heym for another rifle manufacturer. I own a 3000 left handed I bought in 1972 in 30-06. I love it and think it is a great accurate rifle,always smooth and never a problem. There are a few on the internet for sale all around $1,000.00.

08-16-2006, 03:29 AM. Sure is. I think the Heym equivalents are SR-20, SR-30 & SR-40 for the Mauser 2000, 3000 & 4000 respectively. You can still buy parts from Heym for these rifles but they are quite pricey. The Heym folks are helpful though. Best establish that the rifle is in good condition etc.

The Mauser 2000 and 3000 were originally designed by Heym, and were originally released as the Heym SR10 and SR20 rifles. Mauser-Werke leased the idea, with space to manufacture, from Heym - thus the Mauser Original roll mark. Both actions were made from round bar stock supplied by Krupp steel. They are both push feed actions - not CRF.

The Mauser 3000L was made by Heym for Mauser. They are slick rifles and will bring $1000 on the market. The push-feed Model 3000L has a tubular steel action (ala Rem 700) with a welded-on recoil lug, rather than a forged steel action with an integral recoil lug of the 96 - 98 Mausers.

In the mid-1970s, Mauser entered into an agreement with the old German firearms manufacturer F. W. Heym, to produce a series of rifles — the Models 2000, 3000 and 4000 — which were more or less of traditional design.
The gun is a Mauser 3000, in 30.06. It doesn't look quite like your typical 98 action, but it is the absolute smoothest action I've ever cycled, like it's on ball bearings. It wears a wooden stock with a rosewood forend and grip cap, and the stock is a really nice piece of walnut. He actually refinished by hand a few years ago.
The Mauser Model 3000 was made from 1968-1974. They were designed specifically to be exported to countries such as the U.S. by third party distributors. Mauser-Werke leased the idea, with space to manufacture, from Heym (a German gun manufacturer) which used the Mauser Original roll mark. These rifles were distributed in the US by -Mauser in Michigan.
